A Brimpton Literacy Student

Is a confident, experienced speaker , who is able to express themselves fluently and clearly and can listen carefully and patiently to  the opinions and ideas of others.

Experiences a very wide, diverse  and high-quality range of texts in different styles and genres and makes progress with their technical and comprehension skills though reading out loud and to themselves across the whole range of curriculum subjects.

Is encouraged to develop a life-long love of books and reading and to see themselves reflected in the books that they read.

Is able to express themselves confidently and skilfully through writing which values both content and accuracy.

Presents their work in a way which demonstrates the value which is placed upon their writing by themselves and the school community.

Enjoys the performance and community aspects of literacy through drama and special occasions during the school year.
